Lloyd Parks - Officially - Trojan
Now days Lloyd Parks is better known as leader of the ‘We The People’ band. But in the space of his career, he’s been known as a singer with the Termites vocal group, a solo artist, and an amazing bass player.
This set captures him in three roles, vocalist, bass player and producer.
His two really big hits form the backbone of this set. The title track ‘Officially’ and the incredible
‘Slaving’. A rhythm that has become a legend. Even today the arguments go on about who produced it..
The cut from Lloyd hit big, so it’s very possible that he actually produced it. There are many examples of rhythms produced by musicians that get passed onto other producers - to gain access to other rhythms.
Yet this set is more than just two great tunes. Lloyd has a great voice. You can always pick him out, he tends to shout at the end of some vocals in fine style.
And he can also write great songs - mainly love songs but with a good touch of reality. A very unusual line up of musicians are featured on this set as well. Neville Grant on drums and Phillip Grand on guitar, aided by the likes of Rad Bryan and Ansel Collins.
