Johnny Clarke
Johnny Clarke - Praise Jah - Jah Shaka
After the first batch of Jah Shaka Jamaica produced albums in the
early nineties - featuring Max Romeo, Willi Williams, Icho Candy,
Horace Andy and Ras Allah, which made a incredible impact - everyone
assumed that Shaka would push on. He had a good production sound and a
loyal and large following. It didn't happen. And a year or so ago when
Shaka got injured in a house fire - it seemed that the Jah Shaka label
would be parked up for a long time, but you cannot keep a good man
down, never mind a lion!!! And so here we go again. The much talked
about Johnny Clarke set is finally available. And with it Clarky goes
back into the premier league of reggae singers, a place he's not been
in since the early eighties. There are some great songs and great
singing here. While Mafia and Fluxy provide rhythms - and they have
never sounded better - and with Bravo at Leggo's mixing its a truly
excellent set. Nuff respect to respect to Jah Shaka. Where does it he
get his energy from.... Rastafari!!!!
