First Born – Exodus – Chapter 13 Verse 2 –
Vizion Sound -1999
The same inspiration and vibes found on the
early albums of Midnite are also present here
on this magnificent set from First Born who
hail from Guyana.
A truly talented band of musicians which
included back in 1999 - Wally Fraser,
Compton Garrett, Cecil Smith, Russell
Lancaster, Lamber Semple, Trayon Garrett,
Shawn Williams Troy Azore, and Earl
Soloman.
Wally Fraser gets the production credit – and
probably made the decision to bring in some
serious talent to help the band make this set
at Leggo's Studio with Gaylord Bravo and
Perry Hendricks at the controls.
The sound on this album is unlike that was
coming from Jamaica at the time. If anything
its closer to the kind of sound that Jah Shaka
was getting with the Firehouse Crew in the
early nineties.
And two tracks on this work of works are
pure steppers. 'Put A Shield Around I' and
'Don't Find Me Wrong' and I'm sure have
been played at many a Shaka dance over the
years.
Perhaps I'm wrong. Perhaps just like Midnite
who have released nearly 80 Albums. The
music of First Born remains a mystery to
followers of the music in this country. Yet Jet
Star to their credit released this set in UK.
So seek and ye shall find, because I know
there is more First Born music out deh!
