Tradition is a big thing in reggae music, to sound like someone else

is nothing to be ashamed of. Usually it's just a way of getting

noticed before going on to develop your own style. Unfortunately there

is a negative side to this tradition. Someone with a unique voice, an

original style is going to run into a tremendous amount of resistance.

Trevor Hartley is one of the best examples of this phenomenon. This is

an excellent debut album for Phil Pratt. It should have been followed

by many more, yet it wasn't.

It took 16 years! For this even better second album to appear. In that

time Trevor's been involved with a number of producers and scored a

number of hits. Yet the vibes for an album never seemed to come, and

Trevor is a man who likes his vibes. He was a youth when he made the

album for Phil Pratt, and he was prepared to wait for the good vibes

to come again, and this album is full of them. Featuring talent like

Leroy Sibbles, Mafia & Fluxy, Tippa Irie, Peter Hunningale, Mad

Professor and Gussie P.
