Scion Sashey Success – Scion Sashay Success – Jah Life Time – 1987
New York like London has a different sound. And one of the best producers of that sound is Jah Life. His work at the equally progressive HC&F studio has so far produced some magnificent LP's with artists like Carlton Livingstone and & Sister Carol. Now it's the turn of Scion Sashay Success to benefit. Together that they have produced a wonderful set. Scion enjoys employing unusual lyrics, hence titles like '90 Minute Cassette' and 'Pain A Back' which will be pondered on for years to come. A LP for time.
Scion Sashey Success – In The Balance – Eclipse – 1989
Followers of reggae vocal styles will know of the link between London's Maxi Priest and New York's Scion Sashey Success. To my knowledge it's the only vocal style NOT to have originated from Jamaica. 'In Te Balance' is an incredible work – a perfect example of the music in the late 80's. Balanced against Scion's great variety of well written songs is the magnificent production work of Phillip Smart, the former Tubby's engineer who is now producing for Eclipse. Together Scion and Phillip have a produced a truly vital album.
