Scotty
Passed Away on February 27, Scotty, real name David Scott, died from
prostate cancer at the Lord's Place nursing home in Kingston. He was
52 years-old. Scotty first complained of ill health in November
shortly after he returned from the United States. He made his name
with producer Derrick Harriott after leaving Kingston Technical. Draw
Your Brakes was used in the movie, The Harder They Come. Other Scotty
hits for Harriott were Sesame Street, Riddle I This and Children
Children. While with Harriott, Scotty was a member of the Chosen Few
vocal group which had hits with Shaft and Ebony Eyes. In the early
1990s, Scotty's enjoyed a revival as he appeared on popular 'oldies'
shows including Heineken Startime. Scotty is survived by his wife and
eight children.
