These Rice Krispie Cheddar Crackers put a savory spin on the classic Rice Krispies treat—combining crispy rice cereal with sharp cheddar for a crunchy, addictive snack. Rich butter and seasonings meld with melted cheese to form a dough that bakes into airy, golden discs. With layers of flavor from garlic and onion powder, and a hint of pepper, these crackers are perfect for parties, lunchboxes, or grazing. Quick to prep and bake (~15 minutes), they stay crisp when stored correctly and disappear fast—you won’t be able to stop at just one.
1 cup (about 1½ cups shredded) sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
½ cup unsalted butter (melted or softened)
1½ cups all‑purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix Rice Krispies, flour, baking powder, garlic and onion powders, salt, and pepper.
Stir in melted butter until evenly coated. Add shredded cheddar cheese and combine thoroughly.
Form small balls (about 2 teaspoons each) of the mixture, then flatten into discs by hand or using the bottom of a glass dipped in flour. Space ~1 inch apart on the baking sheet.
Bake for about 10–12 minutes, until edges are golden and crackers feel crisp. Watch closely to avoid burning.
Remove from oven and allow crackers to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
