This simple Air Fryer Egg Toast—also known as “egg in a hole” or “egg in a basket”—combines toast and egg in one quick, fuss-free breakfast. In less than 10 minutes, you get perfectly toasted bread with a set white and creamy yolk. Depending on your air fryer settings and preferences, you can achieve runny or firm yolks. Optional cheese, herbs, spices, or even crispy bacon bits can be added for extra flavor. Ideal for busy mornings or a cozy snack with minimal cleanup.
2 slices bread (white, wheat, or multigrain)
2 large eggs
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Optional: cooking spray or a light smear of butter
Optional toppings: ~¼ cup shredded cheese, chopped herbs, bacon bits, chili flakes (added during last minute)
Start by lightly spraying or buttering the air fryer basket to prevent sticking.
Use a glass or small jar to press a shallow well in the center of each bread slice to hold the egg.
Place the bread slices in the air fryer basket, spaced apart. Crack an egg into each well. Season with salt and pepper.
Set the air fryer to 340 °F (≈170 °C) or 360 °F (≈180 °C) depending on model. Cook for about 8 minutes for a runny yolk and fully set white.
For a firmer yolk: cook around 9–10 minutes or reduce temperature to 330 °F.
If using cheese, open the fryer during the last 1–2 minutes and sprinkle over each egg; continue cooking until melted.
Carefully remove toast with a spatula as it will be hot. Add optional toppings and serve immediately.
