1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1″ piece fresh ginger, peeled and minced
2 green onions, finely sliced
¼ cup hoisin sauce (about 100 g)
¼ cup tomato ketchup (about 100 g)
1 lb lean ground beef (≈450 g)
1 lb lean ground pork (≈450 g)
1 cup soft breadcrumbs (≈60 g)
1 large egg
3 Tbsp soy sauce
½ tsp ground black pepper
Preheat oven to 350 °F (180 °C).
Sauté aromatics: Heat oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat. Cook onion, garlic, ginger, and green onions for 3 minutes until softened. Remove and let cool.
Mix glaze: In a small bowl, combine hoisin sauce and ketchup; set aside.
Combine meatloaf mixture: In a large bowl, add beef, pork, breadcrumbs, egg, soy sauce, pepper, sautéed aromatics, and half of the hoisin-ketchup glaze. Mix thoroughly.
Shape and bake: Press mixture into a 9″ × 5″ loaf pan. Bake for 45 minutes. Drain excess fat.
Glaze and finish baking: Brush remaining glaze on top. Return to oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
Rest and serve: Remove from oven; let rest 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm—ideally with rice and vegetables.
