The Many Mansions For All Mankind

John 14:2-3 In My Father's house are many abodes; yet if not I would have told you, for I am going to make ready a place for you." And if I should be going and making ready a place for you, I am coming again and I will be taking you along to Myself, that where I am, you also may be."{CLV}

Jesus Christ tells his followers that He is going to make a place ready for them in His Father’s house. He will return and take them with Him, to His Father’s house.

John 14:2 In My Father's house are many abodes yet if not I would have told you,..

“In my Father's house are many mansions:” {KJV}

“in the house of my Father are many mansions; {YLT}

“In my Father's house there are many dwelling places;” {LEB}

In His Father’s House that is the House of God, the Father, there are many abodes, or mansions, and in that place Jesus Christ is making a place for His followers. If this was not the case He would have told them. But His followers, those of the body are the few, why are there all these abodes if only a few will actually be used.

Are believers going to walk past the vast empty mansions, and wonder who could have been living there if only they had believed. Are they going to cry and weep knowing that their loved one, a brother or sister, a son or daughter could have been living in one of those empty abodes if only they had believed.

No of course not, for there will be no more “mourning, nor clamor, nor misery,” for these things will have “passed away” {Revelation 21:4}. That is believers will not be crying, they will not be miserable, they will not be missing their loved ones, their sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, fathers, mothers etc. or their friends. If that is the case then they will all be saved, and be inhabiting some of the many abodes in the Father’s House.

Did God over provide? Did he not know how many would be saved?

Of course not, God knew how many would be saved. For God is all knowing, He knows many mansions are needed, for all those who are saved. The few that are saved now will only inhabited a few of the many mansions that are needed, for the many will be saved. But who are the many?

In the Bible many is used to mean a lot, for instance a lot of people, but it does not usually mean all. That is one could say that just because it says many mansions, it does not mean that an abode is provided for everybody.

There are some places where many means all.

Matthew 20:28 & Mark 10:45 “even as the Son of Mankind came, not to be served, but to serve, and to give His soul a ransom for many."

Jesus Christ the “Son of Mankind” “give His soul a ransom for many.” That is He give His soul a ransom for all mankind, that is everybody. Here “many” meaning “all mankind.” This is also the case in Romans 5:12-19.

Romans 5:12 Therefore, even as through one man sin entered into the world, and through sin death, and thus death passed through into all mankind, on which all sinned -" {CLV}

Sin entered the world through the one man Adam, and death passed onto all mankind, that is everybody.

Romans 5:15 But not as the offense, thus also the grace. For if, by the offense of the one, the many died, much rather the grace of God and the gratuity in grace, which is of the One Man, Jesus Christ, to the many superabounds."

The many are the same ones as in Romans 5:12, that is the many are all mankind.

Romans 5:18-19 Consequently, then, as it was through one offense for all mankind for condemnation, thus also it is through one just award for all mankind for life's justifying." For even as, through the disobedience of the one man, the many were constituted sinners, thus also, through the obedience of the One, the many shall be constituted just." {CLV}

All mankind will be justified through the one just award, that is through Jesus Christ, for He is the obedient one. The many were constituted sinners, that is all mankind, and the many shall be constituted just, that is all mankind.

Thus there is an abode for everyone, all mankind are the many who will inhabit the many abodes.
