Lie 1% human/Chimp
By Mark Farquharson
What is the genetic difference between humans and chimpanzees? Is it 1%?
Are we truly 99% genetically similar to chimps?
Surely you would all agree that it is 1%? Is that not what you have been told?
How about 6.4%?,
Cohen recalled the December 2006 paper from PLoS One where Matthew Hahn found a “whopping 6.4%” difference in gene copy numbers
But is 6.4% correct?
How about 17.4%?
In this last measure, for instance, a 17.4% difference was found in genes expressed in the cerebral cortex
Makes you wonder does it not?, what is the true figure?,
no one knows for sure….That’s right, no one, but one thing is for sure it is not 1%…that was a lie….
