Shalom, dear all!
Thank you for praying faithfully for us. Douglas has recovered from the sinus infection. In fact, I have suffered from frequent throat inflammation for many years. This time, we both got sick, and learned to take good care of my nasal cavity. Without knowing it, my throat problem has not recurred in the past month. Now I know that I had not treated the root of the problem before. I also realized more deeply that everything God allows to happen to us has its good purpose.

感謝您忠心地為我們禱告。道格拉斯的鼻腔發炎已經痊癒。 其實我長年為經常性的喉嚨發炎而苦，這次我們兩個生了這場病，因此學會了好好保養鼻腔。不知不覺中，我的喉嚨問題一個月來都沒有發作，原來我以前都沒有醫在根本。我也更深體會到，上帝允許發生在我們身上的事都有其意義。

The seminar on family financial management at SSEC Church went very well, thank God! I started preaching on this topic in the local church last year, and I was surprised that I had misunderstood the Bible in the past. After that, I sought God's guidance to see if God wanted me to preach to more people. This time God opened this opportunity, and more than 40 church women leaders participated. If God is willing, I hope to have more women see God's will in financial management in the future.
Sandy在SSEC教會主講的家庭財務管理的講座非常順利，感謝神！去年我開始在當地教會講這個主題，我自己都很訝異以往對聖經有所誤解。之後我尋求上帝指引道路，看看上帝是否要我對更多人傳講。這次上帝開了這個機會，有四十多位教會婦女領袖來參加。若上帝願意，我也希望將來能夠讓更多的婦女在財務管理方面看見上帝的心意。 

After three weeks of hard work and Jennifer’s contribution

(though she took it as practice), Mrs Carson has finished the patterns of robes for the 10 women in her first group students in the church who have purchased the fabrics. She is happy and I am released. Last week, we took a break since the church was holding a conference and I got quite sick. Doing work squatting and sitting on the floor has caused me slight Rectal prolapse and Metatarsal dislocation. This week, we are making the decoration collars for the choir robes. It is work of a little piece, but it is not a piece of cake. As the pre-class assignment, I asked the students to sew donuts, mainly for encouraging them to think and to develop new skills with their previous knowledge. Though only Merolyn managed to complete this assignment, I am happy enough that all of them had tried very hard.      

卡森太太經過三個星期的奮鬥，加上珍妮芙視為練習的貢獻，已經完成十位已經購買布料的教會學生之詩班袍版型。她很開心，我也鬆了一口氣。上星期教會有大型活動，我們就停課一周。事實上我也因病很需要休息。因為配合她們在地板上做事，或是蹲下、或是坐在地板對我都很難。三個星期下來，我的蹠骨錯位，也有輕微直腸垂脫現象。這星期，我們正在做詩班袍的領片。小小的領片，卻有其中的竅門要學習。上課前我要求學生自己想辦法縫個甜甜圈當作課前作業。主要是鼓勵她們自己動動腦，用學過的知識來發展新的技能。雖然只有梅若琳一人把甜甜圈做出來，我還是很高興，至少她們都盡力嘗試了。 

There were 18 people attending the freshman orientation, 15 of whom took the exam, and 11 of them passed it. However, only one person has bought the various sewing rulers needed for the class, and the others are expecting to receive them for free. They all said they would get the rulers first and then pay for them gradually. But I wouldn’t allow them to do this, knowing that they would never return the borrowed money. Therefore, there will probably be only one new student in the new class this Saturday. The others will probably wait, expect me to change my mind, and argue with me. They will continue to argue until I finish this term, and then wait for the next new class. Alas! I will leave it to God! Only He knows who is coming from what. This is one of the lessons that missionaries learn: wait for God to act, don't push, and give thanks in every circumstance.
來參加新生講習的人有18人，參加測試的有15人，其中11人通過測試。但是，目前只有一人買了所需的各式裁縫尺，其他人都等著免費贈送。她們都說要先拿尺再慢慢付錢。但是我沒有答應，因為她們絕對不會把借到的錢還回來。因此，這星期六的新班大概只有一位新生。其他的人應該會一邊觀望、一邊跟我吵。吵到我一期課都上完了，他們還會繼續吵，然後等待下次開新班。唉！交在上帝手中吧！只有祂知道誰是何來。這是宣教士學習的功課之一：等待上帝的作為，不要勉強，凡事謝恩。

We are all feeling heavy these days. Although it is a working day, the only sounds around are the generators and the sounds of people mowing the grass.

Two families that had a feud over the gravel business launched a revenge operation on Monday night. Some people were shot, some were seriously injured by bush knives, and the houses of those involved were burned down, including the families' of my students. All schools are closed and everyone is hiding at home. In the remote villages, everyone is more or less related, so everyone is afraid of misfortune. We were to cancel the class on Tuesday. But my students still came to the class in the afternoon, being eager to finish their project before I leave. Unfortunately, the news of the death of the person who had been shot came and more houses in the community had been being burned down. The students had to go home before it was too bad and too late. The main perpetrators of the murder yesterday were Beverlyn and Jennifer’s relatives. Later on, we heard that two of them were attacked and injured. The church members were trying to take the risk to send them to the Ambunti Hospital. the hospital was afraid that the trouble makers would burn the hospital, so they refused to accept Beverlyn or Jennifer to stay there. Beverlyn was back to the church and Jennifer was waiting in the hospital since the cuts were serious. Beverlyn was injured on the thigh by a wire dart shot by a crossbow. Jennifer was slashed with a bush knife and slashed her finger and arm. They could have been killed if the old pastor had not interfered. The current situation is: Some staff arranged for Beverlyn to take a boat to her hometown in the middle of the night, where her relatives will protect her. Jennifer was seriously injured, but the hospital refused to admit her. Her family took her to the jungle to hide, and her current condition is not known to us. Many people, including some hospital staff, have lost their houses, gat injured, and fled away. What we can do is pray, pray, and pray!
這幾天我們的心情十分沉重。雖然是工作日，但是周遭只有發電機和閒得發慌的人割草的聲音。因砂石生意而結怨的兩個家族星期一晚上發動報復行動，有人被槍殺、砍成重傷、牽涉其中之人的房屋全被焚燒，其中也包括我的學生們的家人。所有的學校都停課，大家躲在家中。在偏鄉中，大家多多少少都有親戚關係，因此人人恐遭橫禍。本來我星期二要停課，但是我的學生急著要自我離開前完成作品，下午還是來上課。不幸的是，受了槍傷的那人死亡的消息傳來，洩憤的人繼續燒掉更多房子。學生們還是得趕快回家，免得稍後回不去。昨天兇殺主要肇事者是她們的親戚。但不久就聽說貝芙琳和珍妮芙兩人受攻擊受傷，教會的人正在想辦法冒險將她們送到安布恩提醫院。醫院害怕洩憤者把醫院給燒了，因此拒絕收留貝芙琳和珍妮芙。貝芙琳被送回教會，珍妮芙傷重仍然在醫院等待。貝芙琳是被人以十字弓射箭穿入大腿。珍妮芙被人以開山刀砍傷手指與手臂。若非教會的老牧師出面介入，兩人可能會被砍死。目前的狀況是： 同工安排貝芙琳半夜搭船逃往她的老家，那裡她的親族會保護她。珍妮芙傷勢嚴重，但是醫院不收她，家人帶她逃往叢林躲藏，目前狀況未明。很多人受傷、失去他們的家，往別處奔逃。其中包括醫院工作人員。
