Shalom, dear all!

Thank you for faithfully praying for us. I have been given some more opportunities to share messages with individuals. And I have got used to switching spaces between where we stay in Reno and the office that is in Grass Valley.

各位代禱勇士，收信平安。

感謝大家忠心代禱。Sandy有更多機會個別與弟兄姐妹分享信息。 我已經習慣了在里諾的住處和格拉斯瓦萊的辦公室之間切換空間。

While staying in Reno, Nevada, I have attended the women’s Bible study on Wednesday morning. We are having a 10-session study of Genesis Chapter 1-11. Having studied this part of Bible many times, I am impressed by so many new lessons I am still learning from it. One of them is that man used to work for the mission assigned by God before sin entered the world, but for physical needs afterward. This is quite a thought provoking inspiration.

我們待在內華達州里諾市的這段時間，每週三早上我參加教會的婦女查經班，目前大家正在進行一個針對創世記一至十一章的課程。雖然這部分聖經讀過很多次了，但是再讀一次還是能發現到許多新的功課。其中之一是，在罪進入世界之前，人是為上帝所指派的任務工作；罪進入世界之後，人為身體的需要工作。這是一個令人省思的啟發。

Decades ago, I heard a famous evangelist rebuking that some Christians thought only about making money all the time. And I was wondering why he was so against it. When I got to know about the Bible better, I read what Jesus taught that, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” As a Christian, redeemed by Jesus’ blood from sin, I am reminded through the new lesson that my work should aim for God's glory, not only for my physical needs; and furthermore, not for sense of security, sense of belonging, or identity.

幾十年前，我聽到一位知名的佈道家譴責說有些基督徒一天到晚想著賺錢，那時我不知道他為什麼會這麼反感。當我比較瞭解聖經時，我讀到耶穌教導「一個人不能事奉兩個主；不是惡這個，愛那個，就是重這個，輕那個。你們不能又事奉神，又事奉財利。」現在透過查經班新的學習，我再次被提醒自己是個基督徒，是耶穌藉祂寶血從罪中贖回來的，我的努力理當單單為上帝的榮耀，不是單為身體的需要工作；進而，也不應該是為了安全感、歸屬感或認同感。

At the moment, Douglas is so busy that he cannot even put any thought in making our plan for the next two months yet as October is his busiest month of the year. And it’s God’s mercy that we do take time for our family devotion each day. God’s words remind us that we should not take our attending church, reading the Bible, even working in the mission field as admission certificate to God’s Kingdom. We are so grateful for God’s soft whispers that lead us to listen to His Will in where He wants us to be, what He wants us to do, and how He wants us to be.

目前道格拉斯非常忙碌，忙到無法分思安排我們接下來的兩個月的行程，因為十月是他一年中最繁忙的月份。因著上帝的憐憫，我們還可以每天有時間一起靈修。神的話提醒我們，我們不應該把上教會、讀聖經、甚至在宣教禾場工作，當作神國度的入場卷。我們非常感謝上帝輕聲細語，引導我們聆聽他的旨意，讓我們明白祂想要我們身處何處、祂希望我們做什麼，以及祂希望我們成為什麼樣的人。

1. May God give guidance to Meni Beach Baptist Church Wewak PNG in developing the ministry of making sanitary napkins for school girls and women who newly give a birth in the hospital. (The two pastors’ wives are figuring out how to get the fabrics that are suitable, affordable, and available.)
目前兩位師母正在尋求適用、買得起並且買得到的布料。求神引導新幾內亞威瓦克濱海浸信會發展衛生巾製作的事工(用以贈送給女學生以及醫院裡剛剛生下小孩的婦女。)

2. May God give confidence and willingness to those who have received Level One sewing training in Ambunti PNG that they will all use what they have been trained for developing Dorcas fellowship in their churches, and they will be better prepared for receiving Level Two sewing training.
求神將信心及願做的心賞賜給新幾內亞安布恩提接受過第一級縫紉訓練的婦女，使她們運用所學在教會推動多加團契，也好使她們更能預備好接受第二級縫紉訓練。

3. Douglas is getting ready for another board’s meeting of PIM that is going to take place on October 28th. May God bless their stewardship.
道格拉斯正在為十月二十八日太島宣教事工另一次理監事會議做準備，願神恩待他們作好管家。

4. Douglas and I have to drive over the mountains to and from home and the office every week, passing some construction sites. May God keep us safe in the journey.
道格拉斯和Sandy每周必須開車翻山越嶺往返住處與辦公室，並行經施工路段，求神保守行車平安。

5. I am supposed to make a major alternation with my website due to the switch of my identity. May God grant me His Divine Guidance.
由於身分的改變，Sandy的網頁必須於近期做出重大的改版，求神賞賜屬天的智慧。

6. May God make me a blessing to people I encounter when I am in the US, and make what I say and how I live deliver His message.
願神使用Sandy在美國期間成為周遭人的祝福，透過所說的話以及所過的生活來傳達祂的信息。

7. May God take care of my old parents, grant them salvation, health, peace and joy.
願神看顧Sandy年邁的父母，賞賜他們救恩、健康、平安及喜樂。
