Shalom, dear all!

Thank you for faithfully praying for us. We arrived in POM on Thursday. Very efficiently, we distributed all PIM text books that were with the former publisher to some public high schools last Friday. And, on Saturday, for celebrating our first anniversary, we took a walk at Ela beach, that is where the conference hall of APEC 2018 was.

代禱勇士們，收信平安：

感謝您忠心地為我們禱告。我們星期四抵達新幾內亞首都莫斯比港。星期五，我們很有效率地把前出版商庫存的PIM教科書分送到公立高中。為了慶祝結婚周年，我們星期六去艾菈海灘散步，那是2018年亞太經貿會議的會議廳建物所在。 

We were to fly to the US last Sunday. And the plan was to stay 3 days in Maui, Hawaii, on the way to Reno, visiting Douglas’ oldest son, Sam, and daughter-in-law, Christine. After all, my work visa has not been granted, so I am stuck in POM. And Douglas’ visa was due, and he had to leave PNG. He is now in Sydney, and will be back on Wednesday. Our trip to the States will not happen until my work visa is approved. 
我們原本要在上星期天飛往美國，計畫在往里諾的途中先去夏威夷的毛伊島探望道格拉斯的大兒子山姆和媳婦克莉絲汀三天。然而，我的工作簽證還沒核發下來，因此目前困在莫斯比港。而道格拉斯的簽證到期了，現在去了雪梨，星期三才回來。我們必須等到我的工作簽證核發後才能去美國。

Anyway, we wouldn’t have gone to Maui even if my work visa had been granted. There was a severe fire last week there with 67 deaths and a thousand unfound, and the governor had to band visitors from going to Maui. The fire was 2 miles away for Sam and Christine’s house and they even did their packing for evacuation. It would had been very hard to leave their 20 plus animals: rabbits, llamas, alpacas…
無論如何，即使我的工作簽證獲得批准，我們也到不了毛伊島，因為上周那裏發生了嚴重的大火，造成67人死亡，千人失蹤。州長不得不下令禁止遊客前往毛伊島。山火離山姆和克莉絲汀的房子兩英里。他們甚至都打包行李準備撤離。如果真要撤離，他們應該會很難捨他們養的二三十隻動物：兔子、駱馬、羊駝…等等。

O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. (Jeremiah 10:23 )

There have been some personnel changes in PIM headquarter in Ambunti. And a carpenter, Micha, was moved to the position as an assistant at the reception desk. While we were in Ambunti, Douglas spent some time training him patiently to do computer office work. Micha learns quicker than ordinary local staff. Therefore, Douglas trained him to do more work with the computer, smart phone, and the space in the Cloud. When we are not in Ambunti, I realize that Douglas keeps giving him work to do very often, telling him off when Douglas finds him uploading or downloading some personal photos to the phone, computer and cloud space. And I found some of the work redundant. I wondered why. Douglas told me that he has to keep giving work to Micha, so that Micha can keep practicing what has been taught, or he would forget most of the skills that he has learned recently. This is also for instructing Micha not to make facilities at work for personal use.
在安布恩提的PIM總部最近有一些人事變動。其中一位木匠邁甲被調到接待窗口的助理位置。當我們在安布恩提的時候，道格拉斯花了工夫耐心教他做電腦文書的工作。邁甲比普通當地同工學得快，因此，道格拉斯訓練他使用電腦、智慧手機及雲端空間做更多工作。我發現在我們不在安布恩提時，道格拉斯還是常常丟工作給邁甲、發現他下載或上傳私人照片到這些設備時就訓斥他一番，而且有一些工作是重複的贅工。我不知道為什麼要這樣。道格拉斯告訴我，他必須不斷給邁甲差事做，邁甲才能不斷練習教給他的技能，否則他會把所學的大部分技能忘記。這也是要教導邁甲別把工作上的設備作為私人用途。

I was recalled that, in Judges 3:1-4, God spared some of the nations that were enemies of Israel. That was to make the coming up generations to learn the warfare, and to see whether they would obey the Lord’s commands.            

 
這讓我想起，在聖經士師記三章1-4節中，上帝讓許多以色列的敵對國家存留，為的是讓之後的世代學習戰事，並看看他們是否聽從上帝的吩咐。

The interaction between Douglas and Micha reminded me that I might not really understand what I think I understand. A lot of lessons are learned through redundant experiences. God allows many things to happen to me that are uncomfortable and even frustrating. I might say, “Why me? Not now! Unacceptable!” But it would make a difference to my life if I say, “What would You like me to learn now, God.” He is our Great Mentor!          

 
道格拉斯和邁甲之間的互動提醒我，我以為我懂得的事，可能我不是真懂。很多功課要透過重複冗贅的經驗才能學到。上帝允許很多不舒服甚至讓人沮喪的事情發生在我身上時，我可能會說：「為什麼我會遇到這種事？怎麼偏偏在這時候？我不能接受！」但是我如果尋求上帝要我學習什麼功課，我的生命將會不一樣。祂是最偉大的導師！

3.  After Douglas comes back from Sydney, we will go to another city for distributing Christian education text books to more high schools. May God bless our flight and work.  
在道格拉斯從雪梨回莫斯比港之後，我們會到另一個城市，發送基督教教育課程教科書到更多中學。願上帝保守我們的飛行和工作。

4.  My work visa has not been approved yet, and my passport is in the tube. May God pave our path.  Sandy 的工作簽證還核發下來，護照也還在政府部門，求神開路。

5.   May God heal Douglas’ swollen ankle.  
願上帝治癒道格拉斯腫脹的腳踝。

6.  May God take care of my old parents, grant them salvation, health, peace and joy.
願神看顧Sandy年邁的父母，賞賜他們救恩、健康、平安及喜樂。
