Dear all who have been walking along the path with me through prayers, shalom!
Thank you for your persistent praying for Kellen and me. Kellen’s infection has eased down. She sometimes coughs now. Few days ago, I had cold sweat and dizziness. That reminded us to pay attention to our nutrition taking.
各位代禱同行的兄姐，收信平安！
謝謝各位常常以禱告與Sandy和Kellen同行。Kellen的發炎現象有消退，剩下咳嗽還沒好。前幾天Sandy盜汗暈眩，現在也有改善。我們這幾天有多多注重營養，好好補充蛋白質。
Praise the Lord! Though we haven’t found a place to rent, He has given us opportunities to build up relationship with the locals, such as the workers in the guest house, vendors beside the road and fish sellers & vegetable sellers in the market. When we take our afternoon walks, some parents would send their kids to walk with us. We are waiting for the proper timing to form a Bible story gathering under the big trees cross the road.
感謝神，在我們還沒有找到住處的這段時間，仍然給我們許多機會與當地建立關係。我們跟賓館的員工、路邊的小販和市場裡的菜販魚販愈來愈熟。下午去散步時，父母也會差使小孩們陪我們走。我們正在等待適當時機，自自然然地開始在大樹下形成一個聖經故事查經班。
In the market, there are many people who are from the area we used to minister in. They are all very happy to hear me greet them in their dialect. And I am glad to be able to review this beautiful language.
市場裡有許多人來自過去我們服事過的部落，當他們聽到我用他們的母語跟他們打招呼時，他們都非常高興。我也很高興能夠複習這個美麗的語言。
There are many stores here owned by people who are from China. It is said that there are more than two hundred Chinese in Wewak. After several visits, we gradually get to start conversations with some of the Chinese employees.
這裡很多商店都是中國福清人開設的。雇主加員工，據說在威瓦克有兩三百名華人。一回生，二回熟，我們也漸漸與他們店裡的中國員工建立友誼。
Last week we finally got in touch with the local church---Meni Beach Baptist Church---that is pastored by Filipino pastors. And we started joining their ministry last Saturday. Pastor Ruel took us to visit families located near to the church. Though this church is located in the city, it is in the swampy jungle surrounded by sago trees. Many people living in this area are supposed to be our target people group. The Filipinos in the church, including the pastors, are all employees in the companies in Wewak. Being away from their home town, they are very busy with their jobs, but driven by God’s amazing love, they spend their only one day off of the week pastoring this local church. However, the trading world in Wewak has encountered a very huge replacement. All the Filipinos in this church either have left during the last 2 years or are leaving within one or two years for the sake of reformation of their companies. You see! Isn’t it the time that Chinese Christians are supposed to carry on the ministry here? We should pray harder for the setting up of PMM---PNG Chinese Mission Mobilization---, and pray that God will send more Chinese Christians to serve in PNG.
透過各方的協助，上星期我們與菲律賓人牧師主責的當地人教會---梅尼濱海浸信會---聯絡上，周六開始參與服事。如珥牧師帶我們去探訪教會附近的家庭，發單張，傳福音。雖然是在城市，梅尼濱海浸信會坐落在一個被西谷樹圍繞的沼澤叢林。教會周圍有很多人是我們的目標族群。教會裡面的菲律賓人，包括牧師都是威瓦克許多公司行號的員工。他們離開家鄉，工作非常忙碌，神的愛卻驅使他們對當地人有深深的負擔，把每周唯一的假日用來牧養這個當地人教會。然而，這幾年威瓦克的商業生態有很大的變化。面臨公司改組等等因素，兩年來他們陸陸續續撤離，留下來的也會在這一兩年內離開。弟兄姐妹，你看，這難道不是我們華人基督徒應該接棒的時候嗎？我們更應該加把勁，為《新幾內亞華人宣教動員協會》的設立禱告，並且懇求莊稼的主打發華人基督徒到新幾內亞來服事。
My best friend in PNG Christa lives in an island named Karasau. She has come to Wewak for participating in a workshop and is planning to take us to visit her family on the island. But recently she has suffered from great pain on her belly of that the cause cannot be found. This afternoon while she was in the hospital, we delivered lunch for her. This was our first time of taking a bus to the hospital. This is a country with relatively challenging public security, but people here are very warm. On the way to the bus station, some people were concerned where we were going, if we knew which bus to take, someone walked us to the bus stop, holding my hand when crossing the road, some were worried about our safety as they never saw foreigners here take the bus. After we got off the bus, someone walked us to the hospital and stayed with us until we found Christa. Coming back from the hospital, I would just like to give thanks to our merciful God.
Sandy的好朋友克莉絲塔住在一個叫做葛拉紹的小島。最近她到威瓦克參加工作坊，這個周末她計劃帶我們到小島拜訪她的家人。但是，這幾個星期克莉絲塔的腹部常有不名原因的劇痛。今天下午我們送午餐到醫院給她。這是我們第一次搭公車到醫院。從醫院回來後，我們不禁深深向神獻上感恩：雖然這是一個相對起來治安比較具有挑戰性的國家，但是，這裡的人很溫暖。一路上有人問我們要去哪裡，有人關心我們會不會坐車，有人陪我們走到公車站、牽著我們的手過馬路，有人擔心我們的安全(因為這裡的外國人不搭公車)，下車後有人陪我們一起走，直到我們找到克莉絲塔。
Seeing all the angels approaching one after one, I have a strong voice in my heart, “Lord! Am I qualified to serve you in PNG? How close should I put my ear to your heart to be able to make it?” In this environment of that the culture is greatly different from of where I am from, God reminds us not to force David to wear Saul’s amour. We have to humbly learn from the locals before we would like to serve, get to know the local cultural expression before we would like to deliver messages, and do what Jesus did--- speaking the word to them so far as they are able to hear.
看到一個接一個天使出現在身旁，我的內心吶喊著：「神啊！我有資格來這個國家服事祢嗎？我需要多麼貼近祢的胸懷才能做得到？」在這個文化差異甚大的環境，神要我們避免把掃羅的盔甲穿在大衛的身上，在服事之前先謙卑地學習，傳達信息前先了解當地人的文化表達。要效法主耶穌基督，照著他們所能懂的，講給他們聽。
Please continue praying for us, using SK2 Prayer Wall. Besides, please remember the followings in your quiet time: Christa’s big pain on her belly, Kellen’s cough, Kellen’s misplacement of her shoulder blade, my mother’s dizziness, and the water accretion in the knee of Kellen’s mother. May God show His Mercy to us and preform His power of healing. Finally, let’s pray for the person who peaked when I was in the shower the other day. I don’t know who he was. May God find him and gain him over.
