Shalom, dear all!

Thank you for faithfully praying for us. We had a blessed trip to Madang, and the work there turned out productive though our stay was very short. In less than one working day, we visited and made the work handover with the former publisher, visited a church that would help us store the future delivered books, visiting the Department of Educational Office, and delivered books to two secondary schools.

代禱勇士們，收信平安：

我們到馬當市出差行程順利，即使停留時間很短，卻有很大的工作果效。在不到一個工作天，我們拜訪原先的出版商並與他們做工作交接、拜訪一間可以幫忙未來存書的教會、拜訪省教育廳，並把一些書送到兩所中學。 

One of the principals we visited had recently lost his son. Douglas spoke to his heart, and we had a wonderful time of fellowship. Douglas lost a son 40 years ago and Leah, his former wife, 8 years ago. His tender heart and gentle words always give great comfort to people in sorrow. With their loss 40 years ago, he and Leah believed that God would like to use both of them to minister to numerous people in PNG. The rate of child death under 5 years old in some remote villages in PNG was 80%.
我們拜訪的一位校長最近失去了他的兒子。道格拉斯很能同理他的心，我們度過了一段美好的團契時光。在40年前道格拉斯失去了一個兒子，8年前他的先妻利亞過世了。他柔軟的心和溫和的話語，總是給悲傷中的人們極大的安慰。40年前，他和利亞歷經喪子之痛之餘，仍然相信上帝要使用他們兩個來服侍新幾內亞的許多人。那時在新幾內亞一些偏遠村莊，5歲以下兒童死亡率為80%。

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.--- 2Corinthians 1:3, 4     
願頌讚歸與我們的主耶穌基督的父神，就是發慈悲的父，賜各樣安慰的神。我們在一切患難中，他就安慰我們，叫我們能用　神所賜的安慰去安慰那遭各樣患難的人。---哥林多後書一章3, 4節

We were informed yesterday that the documents we asserted for my visa application had been misplaced in the tube. It could be frustrating to me, and we don’t know how much longer I will get stuck in PNG. However, Douglas’ smiley face came up to my mind and that cheers me up. One of the side mirrors of the PIM van was stolen earlier this year. It was the fifth time. Even gluing the mirror to the holding base had not helped as the thief had cut the base off the van. Having purchased a new mirror and set it up, Douglas came to me and took me to the car. With a “I am so smart” smile, he showed me what he had done to both of the mirrors: He had brand-stamped with soldering iron. The melted “PIM” at the back of the mirrors and his “I am so smart” smile always make laugh when I am recalled of them. Serving in PNG, we have to expect everything unexpected. We can be at times frustrated, but soon accept it and trust our God Father, the Omniscient.

昨天代辦員告訴我們，為申請我的工作簽證所提交的文件在流程中全被弄丟了。這會令我沮喪的，不知道我還會被困在新幾內亞多久。然而，我想到道格拉斯的笑容就高興起來了。事情是這樣：幾個月前，PIM麵包車的後視鏡被偷，這已經是第五次了。即使把鏡子黏在固定底座上也阻擋不了它被偷，小偷直接把底座一起割下來。道格拉斯買了一個新的鏡子裝上之後，拉著我去看看他給鏡子做了什麼事。他帶著「我很聰明吧」的笑容，讓我瞧瞧他用烙鐵槍在鏡子背後烙下的「PIM」字樣。每次想起那個「PIM」烙印以及他「我很聰明吧」的笑容，我就會一直笑。既然要在新幾內亞服事，我們就得知道任何意想不到的事都有可能發生。有時難免會有沮喪，但是要很快接受它並且相信我們的天父，祂是全知全能者。

1.  May God be in charge of the fuel crisis in PNG.
願上帝在新幾內亞的燃油危機中掌權。

2.   May God protect all our staff in Ambunti and Wewak, and all PIM teachers who serve in remote villages.  
求神保護PIM在安布恩提及威瓦克所有的工作人員，以及在偏鄉服務的所有PIM學校教師。

3.  Our water tank in Wewak is down near to the bottom now. May God grant rain water in time during the dry season.  
我們在威瓦的儲水槽水位已經很低了，求神在旱季中賞賜及時雨水。

4. We were supposed to be working in the US now, and Douglas is concentrating in preparing all the reports for the board’s meeting that is going to take place in the middle of this month and another in the beginning of November. May God give him wisdom and grant us sufficient network.
我們現在原本是應該在美國工作的，本月中和十一月初各要舉行一次理監事會議。道格拉斯正專心準備兩次會議所需的所有報告。求神賜下智慧給他，並保守我們有足夠的網路。

5.   Douglas is in charge of ministries of PIM in Ambunti, Wewak and the USA, working day and night with multi-tasks. May God bless him with good health.
道格拉斯主理PIM在安布恩提、威瓦克及美國的眾多事工，身兼多職、日夜工作。求神保守他身體健康。

6.   The Education Department of PNG is having a project with PIM, distributing 100,000 copies of religious education textbooks to high schools in all provinces in PNG. PIM is facing difficulties in finding representatives in all different areas. May God pave the way and grant His divine wisdom.  新幾內亞教育部與PIM目前有一個合作方案，即發送十萬份宗教教育教科書到各省的公立中學。PIM要在各地區找代辦人員有很大困難。求神開路、賞賜智慧。

7.  The application documents of my work visa had been misplaced by the government department. And the agent resend them this week. May God pave our path.
Sandy 的工作簽證申請文件被政府部門弄丟了，代辦員本周重新呈交文件，求神開路。

8.   May God heal Douglas’ swollen ankle.
願上帝治癒道格拉斯腫脹的腳踝。

9.  Douglas is having a bad cough. May God heal him.  
道格拉斯這幾天咳嗽很嚴重，願上帝醫治他。

10. May God grant His mercy in my old parents’ financial needs, take care of them, and grant them salvation, health, peace and joy.
願神憐憫Sandy年邁父母的財務需要、看顧他們，賞賜他們救恩、健康、平安及喜樂。
