Thank you for faithfully praying for us. Though there had hardly been network before we went to Ambunti in January, we had network working nearly every day during our stay there. Now, we have come to Wewak, shopping for the mission need and getting ready to leave for POM on Wednesday, and Taiwan on Friday. We had heard a lot of the power crisis in Wewak before we came and we had had some food ready that was especially for days without refrigerators. Thankfully the power has been on and on since we arrived last Thursday.
各位代禱勇士，收信平安。
感謝你忠心地為我們禱告。在我們一月份去安布恩提之前，那裡幾乎沒有網路，而我們在安布恩提停留期間幾乎每天都有網路可用。現在，我們來到威瓦克為機構採買及備料，準備在星期三搭機到首都POM，星期五搭機回臺灣。在我們來威瓦克之前，很多人告訴我們威瓦克正在經歷嚴重的電力危機，我們也已經為沒有冰箱可用的日子準備好了一些食物。感謝神，自從我們上星期四到達以來，威瓦克一直有穩定的電力供應。
Due to currency issue of PNG and global fuel crisis, Wewak Power Company was not able to supply frequent electricity during the past two months. At times, there were continuous 72 hours of blackout. It would bother foreigners quite a lot if we don’t have sufficient generators to fill the gap or fail to buy sufficient fuel for running the generators. Anyway, it seems not having power doesn’t bother the local people that much since most of them don’t have power connection in their houses, and they mainly eat smoked fish and sago that don’t require refrigeration. When I was little and there was not a refrigerator in our house, my mother used to make fish crumbs that can be added to rice, congee and almost all the dishes, and requires reheating only once a day to prevent it from going off. Preparing for the days without refrigeration this time, I also made a lot of fish crumbs out of Pacu fish that are very cheap in Ambunti. It took a lot of labor but it tastes nice and the fresh crumbs made in my mother’s way recalls me of my childhood.
由於新幾內亞的貨幣問題和全球燃料危機，威瓦克電力公司在過去兩個月裡無法頻繁供電。甚至有時連續72小時停電。我們外國人如果沒有足夠的發電機來填補供電空檔或未能買到足夠的燃料來運行發電機，就會飽受停電之苦。然而，缺電並沒有那麼困擾當地人，因為他們大多數人的房子裡沒有接電，也因他們主要吃不需要冷藏的燻魚和西谷澱粉。小時候，我們家沒有冰箱，媽媽曾經做過魚鬆，可以添加到米飯、粥和幾乎所有的菜餚中，並且每天只需要重新加熱一次就可以防止它餿掉。這次為了準備沒有電可使用冰箱的日子，我也用食人魚做了很多魚鬆，這些魚在安布恩提非常便宜。做魚鬆很費工夫，但味道不錯，而且有媽媽味道的魚鬆令我回憶兒時。
One of our partners just said that living in PNG, every day is a surprise, and we have to get through it day by day. We had booked our flight from Ambunti to Wewak that was supposed to be last Friday. However, we were informed on Wednesday afternoon that our flight was canceled. And for not missing our flight from Wewak to POM, we had to take the boat trip on Thursday morning and then the car ride to Wewak. As we stayed in a mission center, beside packing our luggage, we had to packed all our personal belongings and put them away in the storage. In 16 hours, including finished the scheduled tasks for the final 2 days and being able to get few hours’ sleep, we got that all done so that other missionaries can use that house when we are away. Douglas was far more experienced than me. As we were busy sorting, packing, and cleaning, he was still listening to and dealing with all different needs of the staff. When arriving in Wewak, I was absolutely worn out, but he immediately sat at the desk, got his computer ready, and started his work. The sudden changes of the agenda and the tiring trip didn’t seem to be any problem with him. Our partners have had a lot of problems with their flights, too. Flights in PNG get delayed or canceled very often. We have to leave few days of cushions between flights and that increase our cost of trips we make and still cannot be sure we will make it. Rushing in packing, waiting for the latest news about our flights, unpacking and packing again, and getting ready to leave anytime…. can possibly put us on edge. But we trust God has the authority over His creation including both material and non-material world. And He also has His plan and good timing on each of us and each of our flights. He Himself is our peace.
我們的一位合作夥伴剛剛說，在新幾內亞，每天都是驚奇，我們必須一天的難關一天過。我們原本已經預訂了上周五從安布恩提到威瓦克的航班，但是，在週三下午被告知我們的航班被取消了。為了不錯過從威瓦克到POM的航班，我們不得不在週四早上先乘船，然後乘車前往威瓦克。由於我們住在宣教中心，除了收拾行李外，我們還必須打包所有個人物品並將它們放在儲藏室中。在16個小時裡，包括幾個小時的睡眠、做完原本最後兩天計畫中的工作，我們完成了所有打包與收藏，以便其他宣教士可以在我們不在的時候使用那所房子。道格拉斯比我經驗豐富得多，當我們忙於分類、打包和清理時，他仍然在傾聽和處理工作人員的所有不同需求。抵達威瓦克時，我已經累壞了，他卻是立刻坐在桌前，打開電腦開始工作。行程的臨時變動以及旅途的勞頓似乎不太影響到他。我們的合作夥伴們在航班上也接二連三遇到了很多問題：新幾內亞的航班經常延誤或取消，我們必須在航班之間留出幾天的緩衝時間，這增加了我們的旅程上的支出，即使這樣仍然無法確定我們是否會成行。匆匆收拾行裝，等待我們航班的最新消息，拆開再收拾行李，隨時準備出發......可能會讓我們戰戰兢兢。但我們相信上帝對祂的創造有權柄，包括物質和非物質世界。對於我們每個人和我們的每個航班，祂也有祂的計劃和美好的時機。祂自己就是我們的平安。

5. My old papa who takes care of my mom who suffers from dementia also appears to have problem with mental degeneration. May God take care of my old parents, grant them salvation, health, peace and joy.
爸爸(照顧Sandy患有失智症的媽媽)也開始出現智力退化的現象。願神看顧Sandy年邁的父母，賞賜他們救恩、健康、平安及喜樂。
