Shalom, dear all!
Thank you for praying faithfully for us. Though I am still feeling weak at times, the Level 3 sewing training is going on. The ladies made patterns of my size, of their own size and of one another’s, repeating the instruction step-by-step patiently. And now, they are cutting the fabric. Hopefully, they will start sewing tomorrow. Looking back what we have been through, we could not finish the pattern for even only one size in a month a year ago. How could I have been so daring to start this kind of course 2 years ago to those who could not calculate, read the scales on the ruler, or some even spell their own names correctly? It was not because I had confidence in myself or the participants. But I merely sought for God’s guidance and followed what God had guided me to do.

感謝您忠心地為我們禱告。雖然我有時還是覺得虛弱，第三級縫紉訓練課程還是繼續進行。學員們用我的、自己的以及各個學員的尺寸都做了版型。很有耐心地按著指示重複一個接一個的步驟。現在，她們已經在裁布了。可望明天就開始車縫。回顧來時路，一年以前我們花一整個月連一個尺寸的版型也做不完。我兩年前怎麼能這麼牛地給一些不會算術、看不懂尺的刻度、甚至有些連自己的名字都會寫錯的婦女們開設這樣的課程呢？這並不是因為對自己或學員有信心，只是尋求上帝的指引並且照著上帝的引導去做罷了。

As the present students will no longer struggle in learning, we are praying and seeking for further guidance in recrewing new participants in the future.  
目前的學員在學習上不會再那麼艱難了，我們也在禱告尋求上帝指引我們未來招收新的學員。

We are glad to know that the ladies, including the participants in my course and their students, have sold a lot of their works and they have even made some alternation from I had taught to fit the locals’ preference. The fabrics, zippers and zipper heads I brought from the city have almost sold out for a long time. That means that they have been willing to work hard but they had needed someone to bring them technics, and willing to sell materials and tools. There is a Chinese saying, “A good wife can’t serve a meal to table without something to cook.”    

 
我們很高興得知婦女們，包括我的學員以及她們的學員，已經賣出了許多作品，她們甚至對我所教給他們的內容稍做改變以因應當地的喜好。我從城裡帶過來的布料、拉鍊、拉鍊頭已經差不多賣完了，且缺貨已久。這意味著他們願意努力工作，但需要有人為她們提供技術、帶來材料和工具賣給她們。中文有句俗話叫「巧婦難為無米之炊」。

Late last year, when Mrs Kasen told me she would like to restart the sewing ministry in the AOG church, I was not quite certain about her idea but asked that we all prayed about it as we missionaries should not interfere too much of the church operation. Last week, she showed me some photos of the sewing class in the AOG church. It’s good to know that some ladies from other villages also came to Mrs. Kasen’s class. And the pastor of AOG church has given her firm support in running the sewing ministry. It was amusing to know that Mrs. Kasen bought her first smart phone particularly for taking the pictures of the sewing class. I also enjoy listening to her telling me something funny happening in her sewing class in the church. It is quite touching to me seeing her doing her work on the floor despising her obstacles in reading, writing, eyesight, and health.

去年底，當卡森夫人告訴我她想在 AOG 教會重啟縫紉事工時，我對這個想法並不置可否，只是要求大家為此禱告，因為我們宣教士不應該過多地干涉教會的運作。上週，她向我展示了一些 AOG 教會縫紉課的照片。很高興得知一些來自其他村莊的婦女也來到了卡森女士的課堂。 AOG 教會的牧師也對她進行縫紉事工給予了堅定的支持。有趣的是，卡森夫人特別為了拍攝縫紉課的照片購買了她的第一部智慧型手機。我也喜歡聽她跟我講在教會縫紉課上發生的一些有趣的事。看到她克服自己在閱讀、書寫、視力和健康方面的障礙，趴坐在地板上做她的作業，我很感動。 

On the contrary, during the time we were away from Ambunti late last year, there were serious problems with the sewing fellowship at another Church. Dealing with people’s problems requires a lot of patience and a long time, especially when we have to respect the local culture and the operation of the church. God has guided me to handle matters according to biblical principles but not to use scriptures to preach to others, and to deal with people’s problems without targeting individuals. Thank God for giving me a good opportunity to grow in 1wisdom!     

 
相反地，去年底在我們不在安布恩提的這段時間，另一所教會的縫紉團契發生了很大的問題。處理人的問題需要很大的耐性以及很長的時間，尤其我們要尊重當地的文化以及教會的運作。上帝指引我要依照聖經原則處理但是不能拿經文來對人說教，處理人的問題但不針對個人。感謝上帝給我個長智慧的好機會呀！

1.  May God be in charge of the fuel crisis, currency policy, and economy development in PNG.
求神在新幾內亞的燃油危機、貨幣政策以及經濟發展中掌權。

2.    Due to the new banking policy of PNG, it has been taking long hours in banking work each week for PIM staff to transfer the funds and to withdraw in order to keep the ministries going. May God rule over the banking issue.  
由於新幾內亞新的銀行政策，PIM工作人員每週都要花很長時間在銀行處理資金的匯存及提領，才得以維持事工的運作。求神在銀行事務中掌權。

3.   I haven’t been able to use my PNG bank account on line for a couple months and was told my userID had been “expired”. Having been to the bank to deal with this issue, I still can’t reach my account. May God be in charge.
我已經兩個月無法上線使用我在新幾內亞的銀行帳號，銀行說我的使用者名稱「過期」。我去過銀行申請恢復，但目前還是沒有結果。求上帝在其中掌權。

4.    We are going to leave Ambunti for Taiwan in the mid-February. May God grant me wisdom and strength in conducting the sewing training course in Ambunti and enable the participants to be skilled at the Level Three course before we leave.
我們將於二月中離開安布恩提，開始回台灣的路程。求上帝賞賜給Sandy智慧及力量，可以好好在安布恩提主領縫紉訓練課程。並使學員們得力，在我們出發前精通第三級縫紉課程。

5.  May our merciful God take care of my old parents, and grant them salvation, health, peace and joy.
願憐憫的上帝看顧Sandy年邁的父母，賞賜他們救恩、健康、平安及喜樂。

6.  May God watch over my brother’s family：remember their hard working and traveling, and bless their work and study.
願上帝看顧Sandy弟弟的家庭，記念他們的辛勤與奔波，賜福他們的工作與學業。
