Also included here is a printed circular announcing a meeting of all “Friends of Freedom, and the British Constitution,” at the hotel on 3 February 1790, at Manchester.  The circular seems aimed at Church of England clergy and parishioners, for once again it notes that the repeal in no way endangers them, for it concerns civil offices, not religious ones.  This appears to be part of that effort to enlist Anglican support, which was perceived mostly as subversive, not friendly, and the clergy and many publicans responded accordingly, as can be seen in the following circular.
