Thomas Henry Illidge

Thomas Henry Illidge (1799-1851) was a portrait painter from Birmingham. His parents attended Bond Street Baptist Church in Birmingham. His early work was as a portrait painter in Lancashire, exhibiting at the Manchester Royal Institution in the 1820s and ’30s, as well as at Liverpool, including a portrait of the Unitarian minister William Shepherd. In 1842 he moved to London and exhibited thereafter at the Royal Academy and the British Institution the Society of British Artists.
