Robert Norton

Norton, Robert (d. 1814), was Thomas Mullett’s brother-in-law, the husband of Hannah Evans (1746-1807), daughter of Hugh Evans of Bristol. Like Mullett, he too would leave Bristol and the Broadmead church, removing to Nailsworth where he became a successful clothier and tobacconist. His daughter, Sarah Evans Norton Biggs (1768-1834), would become a friend of the poet Mary Steele and become known as well to the diarist Crabb Robinson. See Jane Mullett Evans, Family Chronicle of the Descendants of Thomas Evans, of Brecon, from 1678 to 1857 (Bristol: privately printed, c. 1870), 40-41.
