Thomas Beddoes 

Thomas Beddoes (1760-1808) was a physician and scientific writer who, after completing his M.D. at Oxford in 1786, became a reader there from 1788 tBo 1792, when he resigned his position due to conflicts over his support of the French Revolution.  In 1798 he established a Pneumatic Institution for treating disease at Clifton, near Bristol.  He also wrote a number of political pamphlets between 1795 and 1797.
