Steep Lane, Yorkshire, Baptists

Steep Lane, Yorkshire, Baptists. The church at Steep Lane was originally Methodist (1751), with John Dracup preaching for 17 years, though not a Baptist.  He then removed to Rodhill End and became a Baptist, returning in 1784 to Steep Lane, where he remained until his death in 1795.   He was succeeded by William Wrathall of Wainsgate, but he left in 1798 for Bolton-le-Moor in Lancashire, and John Moss became the minister (103). Shipley, ed., The Baptists of Yorkshire: Being the Centenary Memorial Volume of the Yorkshire Baptist Association (Bradford and London: [n.d.], 1912), 53-118.
