Thomas Steevens

Thomas Steevens (1745-1802) was a native of Northampton. He was baptized at Devonshire Square in London in July 1771 by John McGowan. He came to Colchester in late December 1773, and was ordained there in August 1774, remaining as pastor until his death in 1802. During his tenure the church absorbed the General Baptists and the Sabbatarians in the area. In September 1791 the Colchester church consisted of 112 members. See Spurrier, Memorials, 28-38, 49.
