Samuel Stevens

Samuel Stevens began his ministry at Honiton, Devon, where a Presbyterian chapel had split in 1773, with one group forming an Independent congregation. In 1774 the Samuel Stevens became the pastor of this congregation and the church moved into a new chapel in January 1774.  He remained there until 1795, when he was replaced by a Rev. Gibbons, who started the Sunday School in 1809. See Donald H. Cooke, The Independent Chapel, Honiton.   The Story of 200 Years. Typescript book at the West Countries Library, Devon, 6-11.
