Frederick Trestrail

Frederick Trestrail (1803-1890) was baptized at Falmouth as a teenager. He left for Bristol Academy in 1827, during Robert Hall’s tenure as president of the Academy and pastor of Broadmead. He pastored briefly at Little Wild Street in London in 1831, and at Clipston for four years, before moving to Newport, Isle of Wight, for reasons of health. He later served as secretary of the Baptist Irish Society (1844-1849), secretary of the BMS (1849-1869), and president of the Baptist Union (1880). He also pastored the Baptist church in Newport for twelve years before retiring to Bristol. He is mainly known for his Reminiscences of College Life in Bristol (1879). See DEB.
