John Darby

John Darby (d. 1704) was a radical printer in London associated with the Baptists, although he published many Quaker texts as well. He also published scientific and navigational texts, along with almanacs. He was always in trouble with the authorities for printing incendiary and radical religious and political texts. When his wife died in 1709, she left money to Richard Allen, pastor of the General Baptist church in Paul’s Alley, Barbican.
