William Rosser Williams

William Rosser Williams (1804-85), after a brief stint as a lawyer, was ordained as minister of the Baptist church at Amity Street in New York City in 1832 (Francis Wayland preached his ordination sermon), where he remained for the next 51 years.  Three works of Williams that Angus would have been familiar with at the time of this letter include Miscellanies (1850), Religious Progress (1851) and Lectures on the Lord's Prayer (1851).
