Shrewton, Baptists 

Shrewton, Baptists. John Saffery began preaching there in 1794. A tinker was converted and opened his house for preaching. Eventually, in 1812, a church was established and a chapel built. A Mr Roberts, of Brown Street, came as minister, residing in Shrewton, with 37 members at the commencement of the church. Roberts was ordained on 30 March 1812 with Murch of Frome, Edminson of Bratton, and Saunders of Frome participating. See Shrewton Baptist Church, [1846].
