Green Family (Baptists)

Green family (Baptists) – A Green family lived at Warminster, not far from Bratton, in the latter part of the 18th century. Later there will be a Mr and Mrs Green of Salisbury who will be friends of Maria Grace Saffery. Another Green family lived at Portsmouth who, along with the Mursell family of Portsmouth, all Baptists, sent their children to Maria Saffery’s school in Salisbury, although it cannot be ascertained for certain if the Green children attending in the second decade of the nineteenth century were from Portsmouth or Salisbury. At any rate, in September 1829 Anne Whitaker, youngest daughter of Anne Whitaker of Bratton, Maria Saffery’s sister, married Robert Green, after which they removed to Holcombe.
