Nathaniel Trotman

Nathaniel Trotman (1751-93), after completing his studies at Homerton Academy, succeeded Edward Hitchin as pastor at White Row, Spitalfields, in 1774, continuing the church’s tradition of evangelical Calvinism. One friend described Trotman as “a Nathaniel for uprightness and sincerity; a Moses for meekness; a Job for patience; a Josiah for piety; and a Paul for zeal for the glory of God” (Jones, Bunhill 238).
