James Manning

James Manning (1754-1831) served as minister at George’s Meeting (Presbyterian), Exeter, from 1776 until his death in 1831, succeeding Micaiah Towgood as senior pastor in 1782. He was the author of A Sketch of the Life and Writings of the Rev. Micaiah Towgood (Exeter: E. Grigg, 1792), and a number of sermons. His son would become a solicitor in London and a close friend of the diarist Crabb Robinson.
