Meeting of Protestant Dissenters at Dorchester

14 October 1789

fol. 35.  A printed copy of the resolutions from the initial meeting of the Protestant Dissenting ministers in Dorset, held at Dorchester, 14 October 1789, William Blake, Esq. , chairman, sent to Rev. Moorhouse at Huddersfield, with note by Blake to Wood, signed and dated 15 October 1789.

The usual announcement (14 resolutions), with one dismissing the notion that a repeal of the Acts will somehow “endanger the safety or disturb the tranquillity of the State, or of the established form of religion.” MS. note at the end of the resolutions reads:

Sir,

By Desire of the Committee I have the Honour of transmitting to you a Copy of the preceding Resolutions.

                I am, Sir,

                         Your humble Servant,

                                    W Blake  [actual signature]
