Meeting of Protestant Dissenters at Leeds

19 May 1790

fol. 102.  A printed announcement of the meeting at Leeds on 19 May 1790, with Robert Wylde Moult, Esq. as chair.

They appointed Samuel Pemberton Heywood, Esq. and William Buck, Esq. as their representatives to the national body.  They also resolved that the other two Yorkshire districts would remain separate.   At this meeting Rev. Grove and Mr. Calvert, the Independents, declined serving the next year, and Rev. Walker and Mr. Webster were appointed in their place.  They resolved to print the “Address to the People of England” (by Jeffries, fol. 100).  Also discussion continued about the plan “for establishing a general Repository to contain Deeds, Registers, and other public Papers belonging to Protestant Dissenting Congregations in this County.” Wood was chosen as Secretary for the next year as well.
