William Eyres

William Eyres (1734–1809) was a printer from Warrington, Lancashire, the son and grandson of a printer. He and his brother, Thomas (1731-80), took over their father’s business in 1756. Thomas left Warrington in 1761, leaving William to run the business. From 1760 to 1803 he was librarian and secretary of the Warrington Circulating Library. He also printed for the Warrington Academy, and by virtue of those imprints, was sent work from other places as well, including John Howard’s The State of the Prisons (1777), and works by William Roscoe of Liverpool and Anna Laetitia Barbauld.
