John Nichols

John Nichols (1745-1826) took over as publisher and editor of the Gentleman’s Magazine, maintaining ownership and an editorial connection with the magazine until his death, after which ownership was transferred to his son, John Bowyer Nichols (1779-1863). The elder Nichols was also known for his Literary Anecdotes of the 18th Century, 9 vols (London, 1812-15).
