Thomas Wykes, woolstapler, lived in Northampton at that time.  He joined the church at College Lane in 1771 and became a deacon; he died on 24 November 1795. He may have been related to a former tutor at J. C. Ryland’s Academy, William Wykes (d. 1785), who pastored the Baptist meeting in Kingsbridge, c. 1770-76.
