Richard Mardon

Richard Mardon (1775-1812) and his wife Rhoda were appointed as BMS missionaries to India in 1803. Like the Bisses, the Mardons had been members at Plymouth Dock, and Mardon had likewise studied under Sutcliff at Olney. The Mardons, along with Joshua Rowe, John Biss, William Moore, and their families, sailed from Bristol for Serampore (via America) in December 1803. Mardon worked briefly with Chater in Rangoon, but by February 1808, due to health reasons, he had removed to Malda in Bengal. Mrs. Mardon died in India in 1811; Richard Mardon died in Burma in 1812.
