COVID 19 Update

The EIBA have issued some initial guidance to clubs on making plans for opening in a safe manner with appropriate precautions once the Government allows the opening of indoor bowls clubs.

This states, "It is unclear what conditions will be required to fulfilled by Clubs and their members when Indoor Bowls will be permitted to return. It is assumed that, initially, any return to playing will be subjected to social-distancing and Clubs must be confident that that they can implement appropriate practices to ensure that they can comply and protect their staff, volunteers and members."

The officers of both the Board of Directors and the Management Committee are meeting virtually at present to consider all the issues that affect the club including most importantly member's safety.

Whilst we would all love to get back to our beloved game of indoor bowls and the competition and social interaction that it brings we will only open again once we are satisfied that not only can we can do so safely but also that it is economic to do so.

It is possible that the summer 2020 leagues may not now take place but if we are able to open for a reduced summer season at some stage we may be able to provide a reduced summer leagues.

At present whilst we are planning to run a normal winter programme and the Lincolnshire IBA is hoping to run it's normal leagues and competitions. However a lot will depend on the situation with progress of Covid19 and it's treatment together with government advice and legislation.

The EIBA issued a statement on 29 May 2020 about
a) 2019-2020 Re-scheduled National Finals &
b) 2020-2021 National Winter Competitions
These can the accessed by clicking on this link:

Arrangements for the 2019/20 AGM will be made when we have a better idea of when we might be able to hold it.

As far as the winter leagues for 2019/20 are concerned as these were not completed before the closure it has been decided, in consultation with the league secretary, that these will remain incomplete and there will not be any promotions or relegations to affect the 2020/21 winter season whenever we are able to commence that season. It would be appreciated if anyone who wants to withdraw or enter a team to the 2020/21 winter season let the league secretary, John Holroyd, know this as soon as possible and in any case no later than the end of June; contact John Holroyd on 07531 989500 or email:

I would like to take this opportunity to ask that you follow the government’s directions to limit the spread of the virus.

Finally I would ask you to remember your bowling colleagues who not only will be missing the competition but also for many the vital social interaction this brings. If you know of anyone, particularly those on their own, who would benefit from contact then please do phone them or use social media to get in touch. It would be much appreciated.

Please stay safe and I look forward to meeting you on the green again as soon as is possible.

Keith Rippin
