Mixed Fortunes for County Teams

With an impressive 71-shot victory Stamford Men's A team bowlers kick-started their Lincolnshire Indoor League season in style against Boston B.

Taking a maximum 14 points from the match with wins on all four rinks, it proved a confidence booster ahead of their visit to Grantham on October 16.

After a sluggish start, the rink honours eventually went to Mal Smith, Jay Travis-Jenner, Neil Wright and Adam Warrington claiming 20 shots without reply in eight ends to run out 29-10 winners.

Meanwhile away to Boston A, Stamford's second string suffered a reversal of similar proportions, conceding all 14 points as they failed to contend with the extra pace of the home green.

But despite defeat on all rinks it was a plucky performance with no one outclassed in a 58-84 scoreline. Their next opponents are Sleaford at home in a fortnight.
