Mixed team keep slim promotion hopes alive

A 16-2 home defeat of second place Dunholme, gave Stamford's mixed team a slender chance of promotion to the First division of the Lincolnshire League.

With one game to play - away to struggling Louth B and Dunholme playing table toppers Scunthorpe next week - nothing short of claiming nearly all the 18 points at stake is likely to keep Stamford's hopes alive.

However, a 111-81 defeat of Dunholme and wins on four of the five rinks, was appropriate award for their determination not to give up the promotion fight.

The quartet of Mick Smith, Rosemary Roberts, Sue Moir and Ally McNaughton took the rink honours - and a chocolate Easter egg apiece - by winning 27-10 which included a six count on the second end.

There was also successive sixes for captain Christine Ford's rink helping to stretch their winning margin to 29-14.

Players who make themselves available to Christine for the visit to Louth on Saturday will have the benefit of a team coach in which to travel. Please sign up on the noticeboard.
