Kevin and Lynn Tuck with Chris and Alan Barnes
After a gruelling 9-hour Christmas tournament during which nearly 100 bowlers completed more than 330 ends of competition at the Stamford Indoor Club, four players emerged to claim the top prize.
Kevin and Lyn Tuck combined with Alan and Christine Barnes to amass 30 points from their 28 ends, scoring points for each match win and one for every end won.
Thanks to two successive five counts in their last match which helped to secure their £100 win, they were two points clear of Mick Humphreys, Tom Newman-Borrett, Russell Robinson and Stephen Harris.
The tournament also included two rinks of juniors who played their part in the tournament’s success, relaxing between the four seven-end sessions with games of pool.
Leading results : 30 points (captain L Tuck), 28 (S Harris), 25 ( A Warrington), 24 (C Ballard), ( A March); 22 (C Ford); 21 (A Hynes), 20 ( M Porter), (M Hulbert ),( I Zucchett) , (V Du’Kett)), (WMorris), 19 (JBourne).

Stamford IBC is sad to report the deaths of two of its stalwart former members - Richard Montgomery and Peggy Birch.
‘Monty’ was a highly respected player and official claiming a national EBF pairs title and was president of the English Bowling Federation in 2010. He very much supported the traditions of the game, especially the dress code.
Peggy died on Christmas Day at Kettering General Hospital aged 91 after a long illness. She was a formidable competitor in triples and fours, was club president in 2001 and only last year represented Stamford IBC in the Yetton Trophy as a nonagenarian.
