Post date: Nov 5, 2019 8:15:46 PM

Stamford A seniors team strolled into the next round of the national over 60s double rink competition, overcoming a feisty team from March Town on aggregate 36-23.

Neither the home rink, nor the away rink, playing simultaneously, were in trouble for much of the 18-end match, though at March the home team put up stubborn resistance in the closing stages with 11 shots in six ends and Stamford skip Roger Martin had to resort to heavyweight tactics on the penultimate end to prevent the opposition snatching a moral victory.

At Stamford, Martyn Dolby's rink were rarely troubled and raced 13-3 ahead before finally winning by 12. They next play Charnwood on November 26 at 12.30pm.

Stamford B were always up against it with a Church Gresley team that reached the quarter-finals last year. Trevor Collins rink held the visitors to sharing 16 shots after ten ends but were eventually beaten 20-10. for Trevor Christie's away four it was a similar story and they were still 10 adrift when the match was conceded.
