Lincs IBA confirms leagues 'frozen' immediately

Post date: Mar 17, 2020 12:36:45 PM

All Lincs IBA county league matches are suspended with immediate effect. The county semi-finals at Spalding on March 28 are also postponed together with the finals due to be played in April.

This follows the closure of upto 11 indoor bowls clubs in Lincolnshire and suspension of national EIBA finals at Northampton and Nottingham in March and April as a response to the growing coronavirus 'pandemic'.

Says county competition secretary Graham Smith: "LIBA league tables will be frozen and promotion/relegation decided from current positions.

"We may also decide to play the county semi-finals early in the new season, but I am not sure we will have space with National Finals, most likely, needing to be played in October.

Adds Smith: "This is extremely unfortunate, but we feel we have a duty of care to all bowlers, especially the more vulnerable Over 70 age group."

Lincs IBA is not responsible for the Lincs Women's inter-club Trudy Bates leagues and competitions but Lincs WIBA is likely to follow and postpone its individual competitions, too. BW
