The New Year started off with a defeat for our Weekend Friendly team at Melton by 110- 82.
Congratulations to our best rink Rosemary Roberts, Carolyn Gray, Grenville Pearson and Peter Gray who won 23-11.
The rest of the rink scores were: Jenny Desborough, Ann Preston-Bambridge, Ken White, Garry Knights lost 14-18; Reg Goode, Serena Brunning, Maggie Holden lost 8-28; Linda Cave, Margaret Grainger, John MacPherson, Dave Edwards lost 10-22; Colin Burgess, Roly McHard, Cherry Burgess, Derek Cave lost 14-17; Janet Lonslow, Heather Pearson, Howard Neath, Arthur Lonslow lost 13-14. D.S.

THE OVER 50 Triples rink of Bob Warters, Cliff Watson and Keith Rippin, who reached the last eight in the national finals at Nottingham last year, stumbled at the first hurdle this time.

They led 14-10 against fellow Stamford bowlers John Holroyd, Mick Humphreys and Roger Martin but conceded five shots on the 14th of 16 ends and finally lost 16-19.

On an adjoining rink in the same competition, Dave Hudson, Tony Scarr and Trevor Collins went down 16-14 to Ray Keating's trio from Peterborough.
