Spalding pair carry off both English singles titles

What an amazing day for our Lincs County rivals Spalding IBC, who won both men's and women's singles titles at the English championship in Melton today (Sunday).

Martin Spencer beat fellow England international Sam Tolchard (Torquay United IBC) 21-10 while Annalisa Dunham accounted for British Isles junior champion Amy Stanton (Welford in Avon) 21-19.

Spencer had earlier seen off the holder, former World No.1 Greg Harlow 21-10, while Dunham beat Egham's Kyle Hampton.

Martin told me: "Please pass on my thanks to the members of Stamford IBC for their messages of support. I have been overwhelmed with the number I have received from everyone over the last few days.

"It is something I have always wanted to achieve and now I have done it. Emotions ran high on Sunday so I am just going to try and enjoy the moment. I keep checking the results on the EIBA website to make sure it’s all real!" BW
