Stamford IBC's women bowlers scored a comprehensive victory over Skegness in their latest encounter in the Trudy Bates Lincolnshire League.

They secured 12 of the 16 points available with an overall 30-shot winning total.

From the start, Stamford held the upper hand and finally ran out convincing winners by 112-82.

Two of their three winning rinks challenged for the individual award but it finally went to the quartet of June Brennan, Margaret Broadbelt, Shirley Suffling and Christine Ford by superior shots gained, with the shots difference identical.

The Stamford Over 60s Lincolnshire League team suffered a second successive heavy away defeat when they went down 123-64 at Skegness A, conceding all but two of the 18 points.

Only club president Denis Henshaw's rink - including Derek Veasey, David Heffernan and 92-year-old lead Arthur Chapman - emerged with points thanks to a narrow two-shot victory which still leaves Stamford in second place but facing a tricky visit to Lincoln's slick green.
