Stamford Indoor bowls Club is relieved that the latest government restrictions announced this week - banning social gatherings of more than six people in private homes, pubs and restaurants - will not apply to the bowls club.

Weddings, funerals and organised team sports ( as provided by Stamford IBC) are considered to be exempt from the latest restrictions and this has been confirmed by the game's governing body - The English Indoor Bowling Association - in its latest guidance published today (Sept 10).

There had been concerns that Tuesday and Thursday night fours leagues, which are due to start next week, might have to be reduced to triples but this will not be the case under current updated regulations.

Says an EIBA statement : "All affiliated clubs who have implemented Covid-19 secure protocols, based on the EIBA’s ‘Returning to Indoor Bowls’ guidance can continue to provide organised bowls sessions for members and visitors from Monday, September 14.

"The EIBA will continue to monitor the situation and will provide appropriate guidance to its membership, as and when appropriate." BW
