STAMFORD IBC is to receive sponsorship from the Clarity Partnership, a company set up by Ian Cooper and his fellow director Gary Hall to offer financial and estate planning to members.

The deal includes a wall banner and support for the club's A team in the Lincolnshire League and in national competitions.

The company introduced themselves to the club recently by presenting a hamper as a prize in a draw. It was won by Phil Hoare, a former journalist, who is also secretary of Ketton Bowls Club.Says Mr Cooper: "Myself and Gary are both financial advisers and set up Clarity Partnership to be able to offer wills and estate planning to our clients. We find that these are on many people's 'to do' list and once we are able to say 'you need to do this for these reasons', clients are happy to talk about it, engage with us and trust us to manage their pensions and investments."He says Stamford IBC is a perfect fit for the Clarity business.

"My partner Jayne whom, like me, is also learning to bowl at Saturday morning coaching sessions, will be the main point of contact with club members, interacting with them and to talk about wills, trusts and even funeral planning.

"Bowls runs in her family. Her father and brother both play at county level in Devon as did her grandmother and aunt. Learning to bowl seemed to be the right course for us to interact with Stamford IBC members and put something into the club," he says.

Sponsorship for the A team initially will include a 'Clarity Partnership' logo on all first team shirts. The company will also be represented at the Presidents' Tournament on January 28 with another free draw. BW

SUCCESSS FOR OVER 60s TEAM

With a 116-83 defeat of fellow strugglers Louth, Stamford's over 60s team clambered off the foot of the county first division.

The 14 points they picked up took them a point above their rivals after six games of a so far difficult season which has been a reality check for the players after promotion from division two.

Yet again Richard Martin's rink took the individual honours with a 30-11 win but Mick Owens' quartet were not too far behind (26-9).

The team travel to Louth on Thursday for the reverse fixture.
