SHIRLEY TAKES OVER AS PRESIDENT
Ketton bowler Shirley Suffling has taken over the role of President of the Northants Women’s Bowling Federation. She was appointed at the annual meeting on Tuesday and succeeds Viv Hempsell (Broadway, Yaxley).
A multi-county champion both outdoors and indoors, Shirley won the English Women’s Outdoor senior pairs at Skegness in 2021 (with Chris Ford) and earlier this year the duo were finalists in the EWBF indoor pairs at Newark, losing to Derbyshire.
She is a former president of Stamford & District Indoor Bowls Club.
Fielding nine players who play at Stamford IBC, Northants A earned the bragging rights over their B team in the opening Derbyshire Trophy match - the Federation indoor county championship.
But they were made to work hard for the 108-81-shot victory at Peterborough IBC, taking ten of the 14 points at stake.
